How to have a mindful retreat from home
We understand life gets really busy sometimes and we feel like we don't have time to put our best foot forward when it comes to self care. We've all been there!
That's why we've come up with a few easy and creative ways you can have a mindful retreat right from the comfort of your own home.
1. Set the mood
In order to relax and unwind, you'll have to set up a relaxing space that will get you in the mood for your mindful retreat. A few things you could do include:
- Light a candle in your favourite scent
- Play meditation music
- Place cushions and blankets around your space for comfort
2. Meditate
A little meditation goes a long way in helping you take a mindful moment to relax. Try to clear your mind of any thoughts and focus on your breathing for a few minutes during your meditation session.
Playing meditation tunes in the background is a great way to stay focused on your breathing and avoid distractions.
Tip: Make sure you turn off and store away any electronic devices to avoid distraction! This is your dedicated 'me' time.
3. Do some yoga
Yoga has many positive benefits for the body and mind. Plus, it's an amazing way to tackle exercise and relaxation at the same time.
Tip: For a deeper stretch, hold each yoga pose slightly longer. Don't forget to focus on your breath.
4. Make a buddha bowl
Keep your palette mindful by whipping up a buddha bowl for lunch. There are hundreds of quick and easy recipes you could find online.
Our favourite ingredients to add in our bowls of goodness include kale, spinach, chickpeas, sweet potato and tofu. Yummm.
